Cherry Blossom Festival

Two weeks or so ago we went to the Cherry Blossom Festival which was in Japan Town in San Francisco. There were little stands set up of local businesses and people selling things like Japanese style soaps, amigurumi dolls (which are basically little animals that are crocheted), college students drawing family portraits to sell, and much more! We watched the parade in the early afternoon and there was live music. It was nice to walk around and see all that was going on in the festival and there were also things I wish I wouldn't have seen like the "talent show" that was missing a lot of talent haha. And of course afterwards we went to eat gelato at Naia. Overall my husband and I had a nice outing, we got some great shots with the camera, and we had a nice time together!

Their "grand finale" was these men hanging off this tower jumping up and down...not the prettiest sight.

Wonderful, Wonderful Ice Cream!!!

Well, here again is another post about ice cream! Antonio and I love to go out for ice cream and we found a new favorite in San Francisco. It's name is Humphry Solcombe and it has many wonderful unique flavors. My favorites were Fluffernutter (marshmallow creme and peanut butter, anything with peanut butter is a favorite!) and their famous "Secret Breakfast" flavor!! Yummy, it was good!

Dolores Park

Wow, I am so behind on getting my posts out but I am making up for it from about 3-4 weeks of pictures. A few weeks ago we had just gone to a Spring Picnic at the church we have been going to on Saturday and had a great time meeting some people from the church. Antonio was asked if he wanted to try tight rope walking with some of the guys so he did and I could hardly get him off it to go home! He had such a good time because he loves a good challenge! So, on Sunday we had to take Antonio's friend/co-worker after church to the airport to fly back home to Germany so we knew we were going to be in San Francisco but since we got there so early we had hours to kill before our salsa lessons. We ended up just driving around San Francisco with no real plans of what we were going to do, we drove past a park where there was tons of people just hanging out and people watching guys tight rope walking between a few palm trees! So we just had to stop and watch. Soon after we started watching the guys who had brought the ropes asked around and said if anyone wanted to try they were welcome to try it so Antonio hopped on and had a bit more practice on the tight rope. It was soon after that Antonio was able to walk a few steps across without falling. While Antonio was doing that I was able to get some great shots of the park, of just random people and kids who wanted to try out the tight rope walking too. I did try walking on the tight rope 2x but was unsuccessful haha. Some of them turned out quite neat so here is some of the pictures in the park from a few weeks ago.        

Cinco de Mayo activities!

My husband and I went to Cheeseboard pizza which is a really yummy pizza place in Berkeley for Cinco de Mayo. They had a "Mexican" pizza on the menu that day and a Mariachi band playing. Then this weekend we wanted to go to the Cinco de Mayo festival on Saturday in the park but unfortunately missed all of the booths that were set up and all of the festivities except for some of the concerts. We were able to see a local girl sing some Spanish songs and then a salsa band that played. People got up and danced salsa. We were a bit disappointed that we didn't get to the city in time for all the festivities but it was nice to see at least part of it. Antonio told me the drive was worth it just for the free brown rice we got at one of the booths, we got 6 little bags of brown rice.

A job!

Well I have some exciting news...I am not unemployed anymore! Today Pea in a Pod called me again to offer a little more on their salary.  I decided to go ahead and take the job. I figured that when I found a full time job I would deal with any problems that may arise. This store never mentioned committing for a year like the other store did so I am hoping that if I do find a full time job that I will not have any problems with that. It may take months for me to find something else and this job seems to be pretty nice. It is nice that it is fairly close to home, about 4 miles which takes 10-15 minutes to drive. I start filling out paperwork on Friday afternoon. I hope I made the right decision and that it is a good job!

I'm Back!

I am back home from visiting my family.  I had a wonderful time with my family and friends. I am so glad I was able to go and spend time with them for two weeks. I can't wait to see them again soon! It was sad to say goodbye but I was so glad to finally see my hubby again yesterday afternoon. Now I am back home  unpacking, of course washing lots of laundry and even some dishes. When I saw my cousin's blog about making weekly meal menus I thought it was a great idea so I am going to try it! I always make the same thing and rarely use my cook books or the few magazines that I have with new recipes. So, today I made myself a chart of what I am going to make for dinner each day. I have about 3 weeks planned so far and asked my husband to think of some requests that he would like to eat for dinner. I am really excited to start on it because I have picked out a few new recipes for each week that we are going to try out of my healthy cooking magazines and Weight Watchers cookbook. I am also making a few meals that I haven't made in quite a while! If you have any quick, yummy, and healthy recipes that you think I should try let me know and it can make it on my menus :)

Some other news is that I was made an offer at Pea in a Pod today for a part time sales associate. I was hoping they would offer me a bit more money per hour so please pray that I make the right decision in taking or not taking the position. I am going to make the decision early this week. I really need a job but I am unsure if I should just wait until I find a full time position and would make more $ per hour. I am having a hard time working up the motivation to look for new positions but have applied for about 40 jobs since we moved. I really want to work with pregnant women and use my passion for helping and educating women on breastfeeding but have not had any luck. But, maybe I need to keep looking for more of a bilingual position because I don't think working with pregnant women is going to help my "baby fever" haha. But, I am praying that God brings me the perfect job that I can use my gifts for His glory.

Today was an eventful day!  We went about 40 miles up the highway to start looking for some goats to buy. We went to a farm that had hundreds of goats and all different breeds. They had some adorable newborns that were born at 1:00am this morning. They were so cute! We ended up taking 3 home today! My sisters named them Ivy, Agnes, and Gibsy. I think Ivy was meant to come home with us :) she kept following the girls around and nibbling on their shoes. We just had to have her since she seemed to really like the girls! They are going to have so much fun and I enjoyed being able to spend the time with my family and look at all the goats. I also had the opportunity of seeing my good friend Deborah tonight and catch up with her. I enjoyed seeing and talking to her since it has been such a long time since we have seen each other and get together like old times!
