Labor Day

I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. My husband and I were looking for things to do close to home. Saturday we didn't do too much, we relaxed at home the majority of the day. Sunday we went to a Brazilian Festival in the afternoon that we found on  http://sf.funcheap.com/ We listened to Brazilian music and watched traditional dancing as we ate some very rich chocolate truffles!

On Monday we woke up fairly early to beat the heat to run at Lands End. We have been to Lands End before but never hiked the whole trail. We mixed my love for hiking and my husband's love for running together and jogged the trail. Before we began our run we parked our car a bit from the trail head and decided to take a "short cut" down the side of the steep hill. We had some laughs as I hung from a branch like a monkey, it was pretty slippery, and we both thought maybe we should have just walked to the beginning instead of almost sliding all the way down the hill!

The views are great and you can take the trail from the Presidio to the Cliff House, which is probably a few miles one way.

Greek Festival in Oakland Saturday

This weekend we saw that there was a Greek Festival in Oakland so we thought we would go and check it out. There was a few groups that performed traditional Greek dances and there was a nice live band called Helios that reminded me of the music from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" they were so good! We ate lunch there and I ate a Lamb sandwich that was soooo good!!!! We then watched a chef from a Greek restaurant in SF demonstrate how to make stuffed calamari. We had a wonderful time and I still can't believe how good that lamb sandwich was!!!
The Greek Orthodox Church, you could take a tour if you wanted but we didn't take a tour, we just stepped inside and took a few pictures

This is Helios the band that was playing while we were there, they had some really neat instruments and also some traditional instruments like a keyboard and a violin.

Yummy LAMB!!!

Cherry Blossom Festival

Two weeks or so ago we went to the Cherry Blossom Festival which was in Japan Town in San Francisco. There were little stands set up of local businesses and people selling things like Japanese style soaps, amigurumi dolls (which are basically little animals that are crocheted), college students drawing family portraits to sell, and much more! We watched the parade in the early afternoon and there was live music. It was nice to walk around and see all that was going on in the festival and there were also things I wish I wouldn't have seen like the "talent show" that was missing a lot of talent haha. And of course afterwards we went to eat gelato at Naia. Overall my husband and I had a nice outing, we got some great shots with the camera, and we had a nice time together!

Their "grand finale" was these men hanging off this tower jumping up and down...not the prettiest sight.

Messages to Japan

This girl was probably one of the best they had for their talent show, she sang a few Japanese songs .

Girls dancing at the talent show which I believe was from an Animae film or game

Antonio took this nice shot of this girl. We were waiting our turn by this tree to take a picture of us, it was the best spot to take a picture with the cherry blossoms!
