Lately I've had an itch to learn how to sew again. My parents bought me a new sewing machine 2 Christmas' ago but I hadn't even taken it out of the box to try it out until this last month! I kept telling my husband that I needed to make us some curtains for every room in our apartment except for the kitchen (which has curtains already) but I've kept putting it off. So I brought out my machine and decided to start with a cute bow pillow case for our bed. I've been wanting to change the color scheme of our bedroom for a while. I saw a bedroom on pinterest that I loved. It was white, gray, and a small accent of yellow. A while ago I bought a new duvet and a white duvet cover with new dark gray sheets so all we needed was a pop of yellow! I deceided to make a yellow pillow with a cute bow on it. I found the pattern online and it was super easy. I think it turned out so cute! (Sorry the photo doesn't have the pillow in it yet. Photos to come of our new room once it is done!) The only thing that is missing is 2 more decorative gray pillows.
My next step was to make a few skirts. I have made 2 different types so far. I took a sewing lab a few weeks ago at a local fabric store. The teacher was a big help, walking me through the steps of constructing my skirt but I was disappointed that I hadn't sewn any part of my skirt by the time I left class. I was worried because I had never put in a zipper before. I watched a youtube video 3 times and decided I just needed to try it out! I ended up having to rip out the first zipper attempt but my second try turned out great. To tell you the truth I was very impressed with myself! I plan on making probably a couple more skirts for the summer with maybe a few minor adjustments. I love that I can make at least 2 skirts for the price of one! Right now I am in the process of starting a dress! I plan on making maybe even a few blouses and of course curtains for the apartment and 2 pillows for our bedroom, so be prepared to see a few more projects!
